Each year at StudyAdelaide, we put on a calendar of events aimed at helping international students meet new friends, get to know the city and immerse themselves in Australian culture.

By registering with our program, you will receive regular email newsletters letting you know about upcoming events, competitions and ticket giveaways. Each year we give away hundreds of free tickets to festivals and sporting events in Adelaide, we take groups of students on tours to places like Victor Harbour, Kangaroo Island and the Barossa Valley and we run employment workshops to advise students on how to get a part time or permanent job.

Here are details on some of the most popular events we have in 2011:

The Lord Mayor’s Welcome
Friday 18 March

Join 900 fellow international students at the Town Hall for an official welcome to the city from The Rt Hon Steven Yarwood, the Lord Mayor of Adelaide. Enjoy free food and drinks and music, have your picture taken with a koala and watch aboriginal dancers on stage.

Trip to Kangaroo Island
August/September

Join our 2 day, 1 night trip to Kangaroo Island for 20 – 30 international students. The tour is run by an experienced tour guide and offers students the opportunity to see native wildlife, including koalas, kangaroos and seals. Enjoy outdoor BBQ’s and blazing fires under the stars. This trip normally costs $380 but is discounted to between $230 and $280 for StudyAdelaide groups.

Employment Workshop
April, May & August

This is your chance to hear from the experts about how to increase your chances of getting a job. Learn about cultural awareness in the workplace, how to present your CV, how to behave in a job interview and about the importance of voluntary work.

Port Power Footy Trip
June/July/August

Come and experience Aussie Rules Football. Each year we give out 2,000 free tickets to Port Adelaide Football Club’s home games. Enjoy a BBQ before the match and learn how to play.

ELICOS Sports Day
November

Each year we invite 500 English language students to participate in our sports day, organised by Life. Be In It. The event includes a tug-of-war competition, volleyball, cricket, earth ball and other team sports. Enjoy a free lunch as part of the experience.

Royal Adelaide Show Ticket Giveaway
September

Be quick to snap up one of the100 tickets we give away each year for the famous Royal Adelaide Show at the Adelaide Showgrounds. The Royal Adelaide Show is South Australia's biggest annual event and features everything from carnival rides to handicrafts, cookery and champion livestock. Almost half the State's population makes the trip to this important social event.

Governor’s Farewell
October

We couldn’t let you leave South Australia without giving you a suitable farewell. Take this opportunity to have your picture taken with the Governor of South Australia and to visit his beautiful residence and garden. Enjoy free drinks and food on the lawns of Government House. This is a perfect way to celebrate your hard work and experiences in South Australia.
