Cost of living
Australia's most affordable city
In the Economist Intelligence Unit’s annual World Wide Cost of Living Survey, Adelaide regularly achieves an excellent ranking as one of the most affordable cities in Australia. Statistics show that Adelaide is 25% cheaper to live in than Sydney and Melbourne, 11% cheaper than Perth and 11% cheaper than Brisbane.
International students will require approximately: AU$14,000 per year or AU$270 a week to cover living expenses in Adelaide. Depending on your lifestyle you may require more or less than these amounts (This is a rough guide only. Remember your living costs are separate to your tuition fees).
'I loved living and studying in Adelaide, the lifestyle and quality of education were two reasons why I chose South Australia. But another attraction was the affordability. My family saved $35,000 just in living expenses over the four years I was there when compared to Melbourne and Sydney. We also saved on fees because Adelaide University was, on average, $4,000 a year cheaper for my course. Besides saving heaps of money, The University of Adelaide is also one of the oldest, most established and respected universities in Australia'.
