Cairns - The Paradise

Topic - Adventure and travel in Australia

In the holidays I had the chance to fly to Cairns for eight days. And I must say: IT WAS AMAZING!

If u think u know Australia after you have seen Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, I must tell u: U dont! Far North Queensland is magic and different! A whole other Australian experience!!!

The population is even more mixed up than in Adelaide. Plus there are lots of educated Aborigines and u can really see how well they are integrated up there. No matter where u go, everywhere are palms and they have a lagoon right at the sea where u can have a swim for free in the middle of the city. At the Reef Terminal u can take a ferry out to the sea and discover the Great Barrier Reef. I saw a whale and a sea turtle among many other colourful fish!

The nature is simply magnificent and the slogan ‘the rainforest meets the reef’ suits perfectly. After all the water adventure you can take a cable car into the mountains and hike through the rainforest and see tree kangaroos and cassowaries!

And if u prefer swimming in lakes and trying to hug giant trees u can go to the Tablelands where I also saw my first platypus and huge crocodiles!

So if u get the chance to travel u north, go to Cairns as it is a totally different experience!

I once spent 2 weeks in Cairns, far too long ago now, and didn't spend enough time wanding around the place. Those photos bring back alot of good memories. Maybe its time for another visit, perhaps my next holiday trip with the family. Thanks for reminding me of what a wonderful place Far North Queensland can be.
