Students share their Adelaide experiences
18 Aug 2010
Twelve international students have provided a glimpse about what it is like living and studying in South Australia.
Education Adelaide recently launched its digital storytelling project that promotes Adelaide as a learning city and highlights why people choose the city over other destinations.
Mexican student Ana Varela has travelled to many places around the world and says Adelaide is one the best locations she’s visited.
“One of the things I love about Adelaide is that we live on a very quiet street,” Ana says.
“So for the first time ever my kids are able to ride their bikes on the street.
“This would definitely not be possible back home.”
Minh from Vietnam went to high school at Norwood Morialta achieving a matriculation score of 99.4.
The University of Adelaide commerce student says the education structure in Adelaide allows him to explore many other opportunities other than his study.
“There is far less pressure when it comes to your education compared to Vietnam,” Minh says.
“I got the opportunity to perform in the school musical, Grease, when I was in high school.
“This is something I had never considered doing before and something that I would never have been brave enough to do back home.”
All 12 stories are hosted on a micro-site, featuring an interactive map of Adelaide.
A DVD featuring the stories has also been developed for marketing opportunities in Australia and overseas.
