The time has come: I was finally able to find some time to see the red centre, the heart of Australia!

We took the Ghan from Adelaide to Alice Springs, which takes around 24h and is an amazing experience through the Outback. For students its about 200$ one way in comfy seats.

Arriving at noon in Alice Springs by 36 degrees we feel like dying, sooooo hot! We took a taxi to pick up our campervan and here comes the deal: As a student it is ideal to get a RELOCATION (possible in Oz and NZ). You re-locate a campervan from A to B as listed by the company. They need their van back at a specific branch and because you are so nice and drive it there you just pay a minimum amount of money for renting. Our deal was: Alice Springs to Adelaide in 4 days time with a 2berth Campervan with shower, toilet, tv, dvd player, bbq,... for 5$/day. Plus they’ll pay 210$ fuel for us. Here are two links where you can look up some possible re-locs, good luck.

After 30mins we had the camper and we made our way to the Kings Canyon. The following days were packed with hikes, driving, wildlife and more. Our first hike was 3h through the cliffs of Kings Canyon to the Garden of Eden where you can have a beautiful swim in a waterhole. Our second hike was at the Olgas through the ‘Valley of the Winds’, which was pretty adventurous. The last walk was around parts of the base of Uluru, Ayers Rock, which was impressive too. On our way we saw heaps of animals: wild horses, cows, sheep, cats, rabbits, lots of camels but NO kangaroos (at least not alive ones). On the drive home a last stop over in Coober Pedy was planned where we visited the underground churches. Beautiful sunrises as well as sunsets were part of the whole journey while driving along those never ending roads...

PS. Thanks for your lovely comments on my past entries.  I’m always happy to see that my blogs help people exploring the world :)
